WELCOME to the homepage of the Lincoln University and Colleges Society of Bell Ringers (LUCSBR). Please feel free to explore our website and find out more about what we do, who we are, where we do it and how you can join in!
We (LUCSBR) are a group of Church bell ringers but we are also students (past and present) who are studying or have studied in the beautiful Cathedral City of Lincoln at either the University of Lincoln, Bishop Grosseteste University Lincoln or Lincoln College.
We welcome students who are studying or have studied at one of the above three centres of higher education to come along and join the society and its activities. Its does not matter whether or not you can already ring Church bells, if you are interested in joining us you will be made most welcome! We are always looking out for people who want to learn the ropes and we are more than happy to teach new comers who want to try their hands at bell ringing.
We hold a Practice Night every Friday evening between 6.15 and 7.30pm during University term time at St. Mary-le-Wigford's Church which stands in the City centre on the High Street next to the Railway Station/Crossing. St Mary-le-Wigford is just a 5/10 minute walk from the University and therefore is ideally located for us within easy walking distance. This is followed immediately by a practice at St Botolph's-by-Bargate between 7.45 and 9.00pm. St Botolph's Church is situated down the south end of the High Street and is a 20/25 minute walk from the University. The practice nights are relaxed and friendly and cater for all abilities. Suggested Practice Night pubs are THE TREATY OF COMMERCE, on the High Street, LN5 7AF, which has a good selection of real ales, being a Bateman's pub and is situated just across the railway from St. Mary-le-Wigford, and THE GOLDEN EAGLE, on the High Street, LN5 8BD, which also has a good selection of real ales, being a Castle Rock pub and is situated across the road from St. Botolph's-by-Bargate. We also welcome other visiting/local ringers who are not past or present students at Lincoln to join us at our practices.
If you are interested in either finding out more about what we do or joining our society and taking part in its activities then please do not hesitate to contact us or just come along to one of our practice nights, you are sure of a warm and friendly welcome!
